I have been the top seller in an life insurance companies and I often conduct trainings for new hire. Since I have been in the business for many years, I know how to better position my offer and gradually close the transaction into a sale. I learn from my mistakes and I try to use them to make me a better salesman. I tell my trainees during one of my sessions with them that one time, I lost a huge sale just because I mispronounced the last name of the customer several times. I was too proud to ask her how to pronounce her last name and I assumed it was said the way I say it but it was not. I lost a sale that could have cost me a huge commission and a possible promotion.
